Assessment & NCEA/CIE

At King's College all students in Year 9 to Year 13 are assessed regularly in every subject and the results are published at the end of each term in the Form Orders.

For students in Years 11 to 13, King's College provides courses of study for two separate qualification bodies, the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).

NZQA offers the NCEA (National Certificate in Educational Achievement). Almost all secondary schools in New Zealand offer NCEA courses to their students.

CIE is an examining body associated with the University of Cambridge in England, one of the foremost universities in the world. They provide internationally recognised qualifications to students in over 150 countries. The CIE qualifications offered at King's College are the IGCSE, AS and A Levels, and the AICE Diploma.

At King's there are some subjects (such as Art) that are available only to NCEA students. There are also subjects that only CIE students can do (such as Business Studies), but in most subjects you can do either NCEA or CIE. For full details about courses available please refer to the Curriculum Guide.
